Appeals & Complaints
Authors may appeal an editorial decision and any person may raise a complaint about the journal’s processes or conduct. A complaint or appeal is considered independently of ability to pay an APC.
Appeal a decision
Send one reasoned appeal to editor@jmhmr.com, preferably within 30 days of the decision. Include the manuscript ID, decision date, specific grounds and a point-by-point explanation of any factual error or procedural concern. Disagreement alone is insufficient; provide evidence relevant to the decision.
An editor who was not responsible for the disputed decision will consider the appeal where practicable. Additional independent review may be sought. The journal will communicate whether the original decision stands, further review is warranted or another action is appropriate. Reconsideration does not guarantee acceptance. Do not submit the manuscript elsewhere while an agreed reconsideration is active.
Process or conduct complaints
Describe what happened, identify the relevant correspondence and state the remedy sought. Complaints involving an editor should be marked for an independent editor; those involving the Editor-in-Chief should be marked for the publisher’s attention and independent editorial assessment. The person complained about must not be the sole adjudicator.
Communication
The Editorial Office will acknowledge receipt and explain the next steps. Complex matters may require institutional input, and progress updates should be requested using the same correspondence thread. Abusive messages do not assist investigation; criticism and evidence-based concerns are welcome.
