Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility
JMHMR welcomes rigorous scholarship from researchers across disciplines, regions and career stages. Editorial assessment concerns the quality and relevance of the work, not personal identity, nationality or institutional prestige.
Fair participation
Editors and reviewers are expected to communicate respectfully and avoid discriminatory assumptions. Financial hardship may be addressed through the journal’s waiver and discount process, independently of editorial decisions.
Inclusive research reporting
Use precise, respectful language for participants and communities. Describe recruitment, eligibility and representation sufficiently for readers to assess generalisability. Explain relevant sex and gender measures rather than treating the terms as interchangeable. Discuss limitations in the populations represented by the research.
Accessible materials
Use clear headings, editable tables, descriptive figure captions and readable labels. Do not rely on colour alone to communicate information. Authors should provide meaningful descriptions for informative images and define abbreviations at first use.
Support and concerns
Readers, authors or reviewers who encounter an access barrier or need a reasonable adjustment should contact editor@jmhmr.com, describing the obstacle and a useful format or accommodation. The journal will consider practical adjustments without changing scholarly standards. Reports of discriminatory conduct are handled through the complaints procedure.
